With the PM Modi-led NDA government taking over, and the 53rd GST Council meeting concluded on June 22, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is preparing to present the Union Budget for FY25.
The budget presentation is likely to take place on July 23 or 24, aligning with the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which begins on July 22 and is likely to continue until August 9.

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began today and will run until July 4, closing sine die as it is a special session.
During the 53rd GST Council meeting chaired by Sitharaman, several proposals were discussed to streamline GST applicability across goods and services. Recommendations were made to refine tax rates and service exemptions under the GST regime.
Sitharaman stressed on the Centre's support to states through timely tax devolution and GST compensation arrears, aiming to boost growth. The government's support was further highlighted through Finance Commission grants and GST compensation arrears to stimulate growth, as stated in an official statement.
