When Punjab was burning, CM Bhagwant Mann was praising law and order in his state
Amritpal Singh was made the head of Waris Punjab De, following the death of Deep Sidhu. Amritpal Singh who claims to be a spiritual leader was in Dubai before being brought down to Punjab
Punjab witnessed violence by pro-Khalistan leader, Amritpal Singh in Ajnala. People were seen brandishing swords and clashing with the police.
The Punjab police also decided to take back the FIR registered against Lovepreet Toofan, a close aide of Amritpal Singh.

Where was Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann when all this happened? He was at a summit where he claimed that the law and order situation in Punjab was under control.
Mann who was speaking at the fifth Progressive Punjab Investors Summit claimed that Punjab has the right environment and peaceful atmosphere to set up factories and plants. "Our social bonding is very strong. All seeds, except that of hatred can grow here. We have been taught about brotherhood and harmony by our gurus," Mann said while the police were battling pro-Khalistan elements were on a rampage in Ajnala.
The statement by Mann is quite ironic considering the events in Punjab. The violence was so bad on Thursday, that the police literally gave in and withdrew the FIR against Lovepreet. The protesters were out with swords and guns and the violence was so bad that the police finally were compelled to withdrew the FIR against Toofan. They also agreed to release him on February 24.
The complaint against Amritpal Singh and his followers was filed by Varinder Singh, a resident of Chamkaur Sahib. He accused Singh and his gang of abducting and attacking him when he came to attend a spiritual event. Singh and his gang denied the allegations and said that a complaint had been filed by a 'mentally unstable' person. They also alleged that Varinder Singh had made derogatory statements against their Jatha.
When Mann was earlier this week asked about Amritpal Singh and his rising clout, he responded by speaking about social bonding, mohalla clinics and other works done by his government. He said that if the law and order situation had been bad in Punjab, so many big companies would not have invested in the state.

Amritpal Singh runs the Waris Punjab De, which was established by Deep Sidhu. He had become popular among the pro-Khalistan elements during the farmers' protest. Sidhu died in an accident in February last year, following which Amritpal Singh was brought down from Dubai and made the head.

During the protest, he became a controversial figure when the violence broke out on January 26 2021. Protesters had stormed the Red Fort in Delhi and Sidhu was accused of inciting the violence.
