There have been many questions posed by readers about the difference between Doka La, Doklam and Donglang. To put it simply. Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognises as Doklam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.

India and China are locked in a standoff at Doklam for over 50 days now. A war has broken out in the media, but on the ground there has not been one single bullet fired.
The standoff is at the Dolam plateau which is in the Doklam area. Both the ministry for external affairs and the Embassy of Bhutan in New Delhi refer to the area as Doklam
The Dolam and Doklam plateaus are different. This is a disputed area between Bhutan and China, but has no contiguity with India. The Doklam plateau lies around 30 km to the north east of Dolam plateau. Doklam is called Donglang by China.
This area is close to the nothern end of the Chumbi valley which is in the shape of a funnel. The valley opens out in the Tibet region of China and at its base is the 54 kilometre Chumbi funnel.
