Weather update: Rains in Bengaluru; Yellow alert in parts of Karnataka

Weather alert in Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm warning in Karnataka including Bengaluru for Wednesday and Thursday. Rain or thunder showers are very likely to occur at few places over the state over the next 48 hours, the department said.

''Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka & over Bidar, Bagalkote, Haveri, Koppal, Kalaburgi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir districts of North Interior Karnataka. Dry weather likely to prevail over remaining districts of North Interior Karnataka,'' according to the IMD.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru and its adjoining areas will also witness cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and thundershowers towards evening or night.

In view of the possible rain situation, the weather agency has also issued a yellow alert for the city till April 29.

The weather department also said that heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places over Chamarajanagara, Chikkamagaluru & Kodagu districts of South Interior Karnataka.

Thunderstorm with rain accompanied by lightning & gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to occur at isolated places over Interior Karnataka.

In the next 48 hours, the met department said that thunderstorm with rain accompanied by lightning & gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka. Thunderstorm with rain accompanied by lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of South Interior Karnataka.
