Weather update: Heavy rains to lash TN, Kerala; No heatwave conditions for next 7 days
People in several parts of India are reeling under harsh spell of heat waves. But they may have some respite in a few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that there are chances that no heatwave would persist over most parts of India during the next 7 days.
"No heat wave conditions over most parts of India during the next 8 days," the met department said in a statement.

The weather agency also predicted a fresh spell of thunderstorm activity over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, south Madhya Pradesh and south Chhattisgarh during 25th-27th April. ''No significant change in maximum temperatures over East India during the next 3-4 days,'' the IMD said.
According to the IMD, hailstorm are likely over isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 25th April; over Odisha on 24th & 27th April.
The IMD also said, a fresh wet spell over Western Himalaya Region from 26th April and over plains of Northwest India from 28th April.
It has also predicted that rain/thundershowers over Tamil Nadu and Kerala to continue during next 3-4 days. ''Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on 24th, over Kerala on 24th, 26th & 27th and over Telangana on 27th April,'' IMD said.
IMD issues advisories for farmers:
The IMD has advised farmers should comple harvesting of matured rice, maize, groundnut and ragi in Andhra Pradesh; rice in Kerala, Telangana and Odisha; green gram and black gram in Tamilnadu; wheat in East Madhya Pradesh during clear weather and keep the harvested produce in safer places.
Continue harvesting of maize, onion and other vegetables in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha during the clear weather and keep the harvested produce in safer places.
They should postpone harvesting of rice in Arunachal Pradesh and keep the already harvested produce at safer places. Also, postpone sowing of maize and jhum rice in Arunachal Pradesh; cucumber and maize in Tamilnadu.
Maintain proper drainage channels in crop fields to avoid water stagnation in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Use hail nets to protect orchards in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
