Weather Alert: Rain Lashes Parts Of Delhi-NCR, More Showers Expected

Heavy rain greeted the residents of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram on Saturday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting further showers for the national capital.

According to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC), light to moderate rainfall is expected in certain areas of Delhi, as well as adjoining regions of Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR), along with Rewari, Bawal, Nuh (Haryana), and Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar (Uttar Pradesh).

Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain are likely in various parts of Delhi, such as Burari, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Delhi University, Civil Lines, Tughlakabad, Ayanagar, and Deramandi. The NCR areas affected include Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Gurugram, and Faridabad.

The IMD has forecasted a generally cloudy sky and moderate rainfall for the city on Saturday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

An IMD official informed the news agency PTI that the city can expect a cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain and thundershowers.

On the previous day, various parts of the city, such as Civil Lines, Laxmi Nagar, and Lajpat Nagar, experienced rainfall, while areas like Jasola and Okhla witnessed overcast skies. The maximum temperature in the city settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius, slightly below normal, with a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels fluctuated between 90 and 72 percent.

As for air quality, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) on Friday morning was recorded at 71, falling under the 'satisfactory' category, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) data. An AQI score between zero and 50 is considered 'good,' 51 and 100 'satisfactory,' 101 and 200 'moderate,' 201 and 300 'poor,' 301 and 400 'very poor,' while 401 and 500 are categorized as 'severe.'
