A video which has gone viral on social media shows a teacher at Rau's IAS coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar interrupted by the news of flooding caused by rain during a live class, which tragically resulted in the deaths of three UPSC aspirants.

In the edited clip, the faculty member is initially informed about the flooding but dismisses it as a minor issue related to rain.

He continues with the virtual class, recorded at the coaching centre, saying, "The sewer line is blocked, roads are jammed, and the gate is broken. I've been informed to end the class early; otherwise, we won't be able to reach home. So, what to do? Let's continue with the lecture and see what happens."

OneIndia could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

In the video, the teacher can be seen ending the class prematurely. The coaching centre has reportedly deleted the video from its YouTube channel at the time of filing this report.

Rau's IAS has stated it is fully cooperating with the investigation and expressed condolences, "Our thoughts are profoundly with the families during this incredibly difficult time," the institute said.

The flooding took place at Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar on Saturday, leading to the deaths of Tanya Soni, Nevin Dalvin, and Shreya Yadav, who were trapped in a basement library during a heavy downpour in Delhi.

The police have arrested the owner and the coordinator of Rau's IAS Study Circle, charging them with culpable homicide and other offenses, citing lack of proper drainage systems, safety measures, and adherence to norms as contributing factors to the deaths.

A video that surfaced online shows an SUV passing by, causing a huge amount of water to hit the coaching institute's gate, which breaks under the pressure, allowing water to rush into the basement.

Atul Garg, director of Delhi Fire Services, reported that they received a call around 7:10pm about heavy rain in the Karol Bagh area and reports of students trapped in a flooded basement.

Upon arrival, they found the basement full of water. Initial efforts to pump out the water were hampered by the continuous flow of rainwater into the basement.

Once the road water receded, they managed to reduce the water level from 12 feet to 8 feet and retrieved the bodies of the students. The police are examining CCTV footage to determine what caused the sudden influx of water.
