WATCH | Rahul Gandhi’s Hilarious 'Modi-Adani' Mock Interview Stirs Parliament Protests!

Opposition MPs, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, staged a satirical protest outside Parliament, mocking the BJP-led NDA government over the ongoing Adani issue, on December 9, 2024.

The protest included a mock interview where opposition lawmakers impersonated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and billionaire Gautam Adani, aiming to highlight their alleged close ties and influence on each other.

During the mock 'interview,' the MPs wore masks of PM Modi and Adani while Rahul Gandhi posed pointed questions to them. When asked about their "relationship," the MPs responded with, "We do everything together. We have had a relationship for years." Gandhi further probed why Parliament proceedings had been stalled, to which the impersonators humorously blamed the absence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying, "He is missing today."

The protest was part of a wider push by opposition parties for a discussion on the alleged bribery charges involving the Adani group in the United States. Gandhi, sharing a photo from the mock interview on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, "This is a special and long-standing relationship!" The protest was an attempt to corner the government over its refusal to address these allegations in Parliament.

The winter session of Parliament has been marked by repeated disruptions, with opposition members pushing for a debate on the Adani issue. On December 9, the Lok Sabha was adjourned after opposition MPs raised the matter once again. However, the protest saw a notable absence from some key opposition parties. Members from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were not present, leading to concerns about the unity of the opposition bloc.

In response to the TMC’s absence, MP Kirti Azad remarked that it was up to Congress, as a senior opposition party, to unite all members of the INDIA alliance. Azad suggested that if Congress fails to bring the opposition together, figures like Mamata Banerjee could step in to lead the charge.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi had criticized Prime Minister Modi for avoiding the Winter Session and evading questions about the Adani issue. Gandhi took to Facebook, urging Modi to participate in Parliament and not shy away from an inquiry into the Adani matter. "Modi ji, come to Parliament, don’t fear an inquiry into Adani," Gandhi posted.

The Congress-led opposition, along with its INDIA bloc allies, has made it clear that the Adani issue will remain a top priority, demanding a thorough investigation and discussion on the matter during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
