Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil India's first Vande Bharat Metro train on Monday, marking a new era in inter-city between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat. This launch follows the successful introduction of the Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains, enhancing regional connectivity.
The Vande Bharat Metro train will operate six days a week, departing Bhuj at 5:05 AM and reaching Ahmedabad at 10:50 AM. The return journey will start from Ahmedabad at 5:30 PM and conclude in Bhuj at 11:10 PM. The train will make stops at nine stations, including Sabarbati, Chandoiya, Viramgam, Dhhrangdhra, Halvad, Samkhiyali, Bhachau, Gandhinagar, and Anjar.

Modern Amenities and Safety Features
This metro service is designed for medium-distance travel with full air-conditioning and aims to connect cities within a 150 km range. It promises a comfortable journey with modern amenities such as automatic doors and high comfort levels. The train features rain-resistant interiors, jerk-free rides, fire detection systems, and CCTV cameras for enhanced safety.
The Vande Bharat Metro will be launched with a minimum of 12 coaches. These trains are designed to cover distances ranging from 100 km to 250 km efficiently. Each coach configuration is unique; four coaches form one unit.
Affordable Fares
Fares for the Vande Bharat Metro are set to be affordable. Minimum tickets are priced at ₹30, inclusive of GST. Season ticket options include weekly passes at ₹7, bi-weekly passes at ₹15, and monthly passes at ₹20. This pricing strategy aims to make travel more accessible for daily commuters.
The train's capacity stands at 1,150 passengers across its 12 coaches. It is equipped with the Kavach train collision avoidance system to ensure passenger safety. This feature underscores the emphasis on security alongside comfort.
Operational Schedule
The Vande Bharat Metro will run six days a week on the Bhuj-Ahmedabad route. It covers the distance in approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes with average stops of two minutes each at nine stations along the way.
This new service is expected to significantly improve travel experiences and connectivity in Gujarat. It sets a new benchmark for regional rail services by combining speed with convenience.
The introduction of this metro service marks a historic addition to the Indian Railways network as it bridges the gap between speed and convenience for medium-distance travel.
