Vote for Those Who Can Challenge BJP, Says Rakesh Tikait

Farm leader Rakesh Tikait has made a significant appeal to voters ahead of the final two phases of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25 and June 1. As the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), part of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella organization of farmer unions, Tikait has urged the electorate to support candidates who have the potential to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) nominees. This statement comes amidst the ongoing parliamentary polls, which commenced on April 19 and have seen five phases completed so far.

Tikaits Call Against BJP in Polls

According to Tikait, the real contest in this election is not between political parties but between the Indian public and a "gang of capitalists" he alleges has taken control of the country. He emphasizes that this election is a direct battle for India's democratic spirit, encouraging voters across more than 100 constituencies in 10 states and Union territories to make strategic choices in their voting to counter the BJP's influence.

The SKM's stance is clear: choose candidates most likely to outperform BJP representatives. This guidance applies universally across states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Bihar, and others. Tikait's call to action reflects a broader sentiment aimed at preserving democratic values and resisting what he describes as capitalist encroachment on governance.

Furthermore, Tikait highlighted concerns over misleading tactics allegedly used to confuse voters about candidates' standings and qualifications. He reiterated that the SKM's advisory is not driven by personal vendettas but by a collective strategy designed to ensure that votes contribute effectively against the BJP's electoral prospects.

Addressing voter behavior, Tikait criticized the use of the NOTA (None Of The Above) option on electronic voting machines (EVMs), arguing that it inadvertently benefits the government. Instead, he advocates for active participation in selecting candidates who align with the public's interest against the BJP's policies.

Regardless of the election outcome, Tikait assured that SKM would persist in its advocacy for farmers' rights, including issues like land acquisition, farm-loan waivers, and a legal guarantee on minimum support prices for crops among others. He called for patience and resilience among voters, emphasizing that the true victory lies in the people's will and determination to engage in this electoral battle calmly and strategically.

In conclusion, Rakesh Tikait's appeal encapsulates a broader call for unity and strategic voting in the face of what he perceives as a significant threat to India's democratic fabric. As the Lok Sabha elections approach their final stages, his message resonates with a call to action for voters across various states to carefully consider their choices and contribute towards shaping India's political landscape.
