Vistara Flight Chaos: Up To 60 Flights Might Cancel; Ministry Of Civil Aviation Demands Report

Around 60 flights may be cancelled by Vistara on Tuesday, reported Times of India. This comes after the cancellation of approximately 50 flights on Monday by the airline.

According to sources cited by news agency PTI, the number could even rise to 70. Flight disruptions were attributed to a shortage of pilots by the airline, which announced measures to alleviate the situation, including a reduction in flight operations and the utilization of wide-body aircraft on domestic routes.

A statement was issued by a company spokesperson, indicating that Vistara had found itself compelled to reduce a number of flights due to a shortage of pilots and crew. The spokesperson conveyed that significant flight cancellations and delays had transpired in recent days due to various factors, including unavailability of crew members.

Efforts are being undertaken to restore operations to their regular capacity in the near future, the spokesperson added. Additionally, measures are being implemented to minimize inconvenience to customers, with larger aircraft, such as the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, being utilized on select domestic routes to accommodate more passengers when feasible. It was also highlighted that similar disruptions were experienced by the airline in the preceding month.

Meanwhile, a report by Economic Times, citing sources, indicated that first officers at Vistara who were dissatisfied with the new employment contract had been reporting sick over the past two days. Consequently, multiple flight delays for Vistara were attributed to this situation.
