Viral Video: Vendors Repack Rotten Strawberries, Playing With People's Health For Profit
A shocking video is doing round the internet showing some vendors repackaging rotten strawberries into small plastic containers for sale. The video is a small proof of how some greedy people are playing with health of consumers just to earn some profit.
A social media user Urvashi Agarwal shared the video of Insatragm along with a caption "Food vendors are repackaging old, rotten and fungus-infested strawberries and selling them as fresh. This is not just unethical but a serious health risk. For a little extra money, they are putting people's health in danger, and there is no check by FSSAI or the Food Safety Department."

The alarming video also wans people who like to eat strawberries, jams and drink milkshakes. Strawberries are tasty and nutritious, but eating spoiled ones can be harmful. If they appear rotten or smell bad, it's wise to avoid them.
Health Risks of Consuming Spoiled Strawberries
Eating bad strawberries can lead to food poisoning with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. This occurs due to bacterial contamination from pathogens such as Salmonella and E. coli that thrive on spoiled fruits.
If mold is present on strawberries, they may contain mycotoxins-harmful substances produced by certain fungi. Mycotoxins can weaken the immune system, cause allergic reactions, and in severe cases, result in liver or kidney damage.
Allergic Reactions and Digestive Issues
Some individuals may be allergic to mold spores found on spoiled fruits. Consuming moldy strawberries can trigger itching, swelling, breathing difficulties, or even severe reactions like anaphylaxis.
Rotten strawberries can also be hard to digest and may irritate the stomach lining. Those with sensitive stomachs might experience bloating, gas, and discomfort after eating them.
Preventive Measures for Safe Consumption
Avoid strawberries that are mushy, moldy, or have an off smell. Rinse them under running water to remove bacteria and pesticides. Store strawberries in the fridge and consume them within a few days for optimal freshness.
"How are these vendors allowed to sell rotten food so openly? Why is there no action against such practices? Food safety is not a privilege; it is a basic right," Urvashi Agarwal questions in her post.
