Viral Video: 12 Pune Students Hit By A Speeding Car Driven By Drunk Man

In a shocking incident at Pune's Sadashiv Peth area, a speeding vehicle, reportedly driven by an intoxicated man, veered off its path and into a congregation of students, resulting in injuries to at least twelve of them. The incident, which unfolded near Bhave High School on the evening of May 31 at around 5:30 PM, has left the community in shock.

Tragedy Strikes Aspiring Students

The victims, primarily young individuals preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations, found themselves caught in a harrowing situation. They were gathered at a roadside tea stall when suddenly, a car, propelled by excessive speed and reportedly driven by a drunk driver, crashed into them. The impact was so severe that it inflicted serious injuries on several students, including multiple fractures. Immediate medical attention was sought for the injured, with four being taken to Sancheti Hospital due to the gravity of their injuries, and the others receiving treatment at Yogesh Hospital.

Eyewitness accounts paint a vivid picture of the chaos that ensued following the crash. The area, typically serene, was thrust into a scenario of panic and turmoil as the injured victims cried out in pain. Passersby and bystanders quickly came to the assistance of the victims, providing first aid and support until the arrival of emergency services, highlighting the community's solidarity in times of crisis.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Pune Police acted swiftly to apprehend the individual responsible for the mayhem. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jairam Shivaji Mule from Bibvewadi, was taken into custody by the Vishrambaug Police.

Initial findings by the authorities suggest that Mule was under the influence of alcohol, leading to his loss of control over the vehicle. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nikhil Pingle confirmed the arrest, stating, "The driver appeared to be drunk and drove recklessly into the crowd. The matter is under investigation."
