Villagers in Uttar Pradesh Clash with Police During Arrest of Notorious History-Sheeter
A police team faced an alleged attack by villagers while attempting to arrest a known criminal on Sunday. The incident occurred when officers went to a village to apprehend Fakruddin, a history-sheeter. Officials reported that the police responded with gunfire and successfully transported Fakruddin to the station.

Fakruddin, from Chirchita village, has 10 cases against him in Bulandshahr, Kaushambi, and Prayagraj districts. Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Mishra stated that Fakruddin was hiding in Nangla Mevati village. He carries a reward of Rs 20,000 for his capture.
Police Response and Conflicting Accounts
According to ASP Mishra, villagers surrounded the police team and opened fire as they took Fakruddin into custody. The police returned fire in self-defence after securing the accused in their vehicle. However, Shikarpur Circle Officer Vikas Pratap Singh Chauhan contradicted this account, stating no cross-firing occurred.
Despite differing reports on the exchange of gunfire, it was confirmed that a villager sustained injuries during the incident. The cause of the injury remains unclear, but the injured individual is receiving medical treatment in Bulandshahr.
The police operation was conducted by officers from Salempur police station, who had travelled to Nangla Mevati village under Shikarpur police jurisdiction. Their mission was to capture Fakruddin, who was reportedly hiding there.
The situation highlights ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in apprehending individuals with multiple criminal cases. The incident underscores the complexities involved in such operations and the potential for conflict with local communities.
