Veteran TV actress Sudha Shivpuri, popularly known as 'Baa', passes away
Mumbai, May 20: Hindi television industry suffered a major loss as Sudha Shivpuri who was popular amongst audiences for her role of 'Baa' of the hit TV serial 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The veteran actress who became a house hold name in the year 2000, passed away after a prolonged illness. Her last rites will be performed at 3 pm today in Mumbai.

The veteran theatre and film actress, had suffered a stroke in 2013 and was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai where she was kept in the ICU. However, she regained her health and was fine after all.
Expressing grief over the loss of her co-star Union Minister Smriti Irani, who acted with Shivpuri in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', said its a personal loss for her.
"She was like mother figure to me," Smriti Irani was quoted as saying.
Sudha Shivpuri started her career quite early at the age of eight, when her father died and her mother fell ill. But somehow she gathered her life and moved on. She had also acted in a few Bollywood films.
She made her film debut with Basu Chatterjee's Swami in 1977 and went on to act in films like Insaaf Ka Tarazu, Hamari Bahu Alka, Sawan Ko Aane Do, Sun Meri Laila, Burning Train, Vidhaata and Maya Memsaab (1993).
Sudha got married to Om Shivpuri in 1968, but continued working in Delhi theatre. The couple later formed their own theatre company Dishantar, that produced many prominient plays like 'Aadhe Adhurey', 'Tughlaq', and Vijay Tendulkar's 'Khamosh! Adalat Jari Hai'.
