Vemula's mother accuses Smriti of lying, demands explanation on how her son was anti-national

New Delhi: In a fresh development Rohith Vemula's family and friends held a press meet today on Feb 26, at New Delhi, which perhaps could further the Vemula controversy.

Addressing the press meet a friend of Rohith Vemula hit out at the Union Government for HRD Minister Smriti Irani allegedly making false claims on entire episode of Rohith Vemula.

A friend of Vemula displaying the caste certificate of Vemula which certifies the caste of Vemula as SC, questioned the government as to why Union Ministers Thawar Chand Gehlot and Smriti Irani has been claiming Vemula was not Dalit.

"While matter is under the investigation, why Union Ministers Thawar Chand Gehlot and Smriti Irani are jumping the gun and casting aspersions," Vemula's friend asked.

Another friend of Vemula questioned the integrity of PM Narendra Modi who recently commenting on the tragic death of Vemula said mother India lost her son. Vemula's friend questioned, if he was son of mother India why Modi's cabinet colleague branded Rohith as anti-national?

"Chief warden was part of committee claims Smriti Irani ji, she can go and check, he never was. Another lie," Vemula's friend pointed.

Friend asked why action has been not taken against Irani for issuing false statements on Vemula.

Vemula's mother too spoke to the media and accused Irani of diverting the issue by making false claims. She demanded explanation from Irani on how her son became anti national and extremist.
