Vande Bharat Express Ticket Cancellation Fees: How Much Will You Lose If You Cancel Your Ticket?
Travelers using the Vande Bharat Express should be aware that cancelling tickets can result in charges. The cancellation fee depends on when the ticket is cancelled and the class of service. For example, if a ticket is cancelled more than 48 hours before departure, a flat fee is charged, ranging from Rs 60 for Second Class tickets to Rs 240 for AC First Class/Executive Class tickets.
However, if you cancel your ticket between 48 and 12 hours before the train leaves, 25% of the total fare will be deducted in addition to the minimum flat charge. Cancelling within 12 to 4 hours before departure means 50% of the fare is deducted alongside the minimum flat rate.

The Vande Bharat Express stands out as a premium service offered by Indian Railways, connecting cities within a distance of 800 km (500 miles) or a travel time of less than ten hours. This medium-distance, superfast express service features reserved, air-conditioned chair cars. The trains, electric multiple units (EMUs), come in configurations of eight or sixteen coaches and are self-propelling.
Since its launch in 2018, the Vande Bharat Express has demonstrated its capability by achieving semi-high speeds of up to 183 km/h (114 mph) during trials, with an operational speed capped at 160 km/h (99 mph). These trains were conceived, designed, and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory based in Chennai, showcasing India's advancements in rail technology.
For passengers holding RAC or waitlisted tickets, Indian Railways offers a bit more flexibility. Such tickets can be cancelled up to 30 minutes before the train's scheduled departure time, allowing for a full refund minus a nominal clerkage charge. However, passengers should note that e-tickets cannot be directly cancelled. Instead, those needing to cancel an e-ticket must file a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) online to process their cancellation and seek a refund.
