Vajpayee’s memorial to be built in 1.5 acres of land in New Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 16: The last rites of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be performed at Smriti Sthal in New Delhi close to Shakti Sthal and 1.5 acres of land will be made available for the construction of memorial of the former PM.

Sources said that the BJP wanted to built a memorial of one of its most popular leaders and for which 1.5 acres of land will be made available. The concerned authorities have confirmed it. His last rite will be performed on Friday at 4 PM. His procession will start from the newly constructed office of the Bharatiya Janata Party at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, New Delhi.
Memorials of the most important leaders including Mahatma Gandhi and many Prime Ministers are near Raj Ghat. However, the matter had gone to courts as well and many leaders were allegedly not allowed to built their memorials in Delhi. On the other hand some of the memorials in the area are spread in over 100 acres. However, Vajpayee's memorial will be built in 1.5 acres so the BJP workers could remember his tallest leader.
