V Kalyanam, Mahatma Gandhi's ex- personal secretary joins AAP

New Delhi, Jan 26: Venkita Kalyanam, 91 year old freedom fighter and

's personal Secretary joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday.

The then PS to Mahatma Gandhi, V Kalyanam is the man who informed both Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of Gandhiji's death on January 30, 1948.

V Kalyanam was just behind Gandhi when Naturam Godse fired his shots.

Kalyanam was only 28-year-old when he served Gandhiji as his Personal Secretary during the last few years of his life (1943-48).

Kalyanam, reportedly lives in Tamil Nadu capital, Chennai just as another common man.

Like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he also does not believe in being protected by security guards.

A truly Gandhian, Kalyanam says, "One who needs security has no right to live."

Kalyanam joined India's freedom struggle during 'Quit India' movement.

As Gandhiji's PS, Kalyanam's job was to sort out the thousands of mails that came for him.
