Uttarakhand's Kempty Falls Swell, Heavy Water Flow Scares People | Watch Viral Video

Uttarakhand recently experienced a significant drop in temperatures due to a fresh onslaught of heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly impacting Dehradun among other districts. This weather phenomenon not only brought a chill to the air but also caused considerable disruptions across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has projected that these unsettled weather conditions, including rain, thunderstorms, and squalls, will persist in several districts, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, and Nainital, in the days ahead. In light of these forecasts, the IMD has issued a weather warning for the state, cautioning residents about the potential for further disturbances.

The Mussoorie-Dehradun road witnessed chaos as heavy rainfall led to a halt in traffic near Kincraig, caused by large mounds of debris that obstructed the path. Kempty Falls, a popular tourist spot in Mussoorie, showcased the severity of the situation as it overflowed, sending torrents of water and debris into nearby shops and forcing tourists to either stay indoors or cancel their plans entirely. This dramatic scene was captured and shared on social media, highlighting the impact of the downpour on both the environment and local businesses.

Alerts and Precautions Amid Unfavorable Weather

The recent weather conditions have led to a significant decrease in temperature across Uttarakhand, with Dehradun recording a maximum temperature of 34.7°C, almost a degree lower than the norm. Mukteshwar and Pantnagar also felt the chill, with temperatures dropping to 18°C and 33°C, respectively, marking a noticeable deviation from their average temperatures. These changes underscore the broader cooling trend that the region is experiencing due to the heavy rainfall.

In response to the adverse weather, the State Emergency Operation Centre has issued guidance, especially to those residing in hilly areas and pilgrims journeying on the Char Dham route. The advisory stresses the importance of remaining vigilant due to the increased risk of landslides and slippery roads. Additionally, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local authorities are on high alert, ready to tackle any emergencies that may arise. These measures aim to mitigate the impact of the weather and ensure the safety of the state's residents and visitors.
