Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Announces Pension Increases for Statehood Activists

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced significant pension increases for statehood activists ahead of the state's 25th Foundation Day. The new pensions will support those who fought for statehood and honour their contributions.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced an increase in pensions for those who fought for the state's creation. He also plans to name significant infrastructure in their honour. These announcements were made in Dehradun, just before the state's 25th Foundation Day.

Dhami stated that activists who spent at least seven days in jail or were injured during the movement will see their pensions rise from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 monthly. Additionally, other activists will receive an increase from Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,500 per month.

Pension Increases for Injured Activists

For those injured or completely disabled during the agitation, the pension will be raised from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 monthly. They will also receive a medical attendant for assistance. Dependents of activists killed during the movement will have their pensions increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,500 per month.

During the event, Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs by laying flowers at the Martyrs Memorial in the court complex. He also honoured state activists and families of those killed during the agitation at the Police Lines.

Commemorative Actions and Public Appeal

A helicopter showered flowers on the activists during the ceremony. The chief minister urged residents to light five lamps in their homes on State Foundation Day to remember these activists.

The announcements reflect a commitment to recognising and supporting those who contributed significantly to Uttarakhand's formation. By increasing pensions and naming infrastructure after them, Dhami aims to honour their sacrifices and ensure their legacy endures.
