Uttar Pradesh's Nazul Property Bill Deferred for Select Committee Evaluation
The Uttar Pradesh Nazul Property Management and Use for Public Purpose Bill, passed by the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, did not receive approval from the Legislative Council. Instead, it was referred to the Select Committee of the House. On Thursday, after the lunch break proceedings in the Council, Leader of the House Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya presented this bill.

Proposal for Select Committee
BJP member and party state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary proposed that the bill be handed over to the Select Committee. He suggested that the committee should submit its report within two months. Following this proposal, Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh declared it passed by voice vote.
Despite having 79 members in the 100-member State Legislative Council, the BJP could not pass the bill. Before its passage in the assembly on Wednesday, some ruling party MLAs had also expressed a need for amendments to the proposal. However, it was later declared passed by voice vote.
Other Bills Introduced
Several other bills were introduced in the House and declared passed by voice vote. These included the Uttar Pradesh Private University Second Amendment Bill, Uttar Pradesh Private University Third Amendment Bill, and Uttar Pradesh Private University Fourth Amendment Bill. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Bill and Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Amendment Bill were also introduced and passed.
The Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region and Other Area Development Authority Bill was among those introduced and passed by voice vote. Other bills included the Uttar Pradesh State University Amendment Bill and Uttar Pradesh Nodal Investment Region Manufacturing Construction Area Bill.
Additional Bills Passed
The Bonus Payment Uttar Pradesh Amendment Bill and Factories Uttar Pradesh Amendment Bill were also introduced and passed by voice vote. The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Supplementary 2024-2025 Bill was similarly introduced and passed.
