Uttar Pradesh Government Establishes State Capital Region on NCR Model

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the creation of the State Capital Region (SCR), mirroring the National Capital Region (NCR). Governor Anandiben Patel approved the establishment of the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region Development Authority (UP-SCRDA). Following her approval, the Housing and Urban Planning Department issued a notification.

UP Forms New State Capital Region

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated this project in September 2022. He stated, "People from different cities want to come here and make their permanent residence. The population pressure is also increasing in the surrounding districts and many a times complaints of unplanned development are also received. In such a situation, keeping in view the future requirements, Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region should be formed on the lines of National Capital Region NCR."

Key Areas and Governance

The newly formed SCR will encompass Lucknow and nearby districts including Hardoi, Sitapur, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Barabanki. The total area covered by the SCR will be 27,826 square kilometres. The UP-SCRDA will manage development projects and resource allocation within this region.

The UP-SCRDA will be chaired by the Chief Minister, with the Chief Secretary of the state serving as vice-chairman. Other members will include the Additional Chief Secretary Housing and Urban Planning, Divisional Commissioners of Lucknow and Ayodhya, District Magistrates from all involved districts, and Vice-Chairmen of various development authorities.

Objectives and Implementation

The primary goal of forming the SCR is to address increasing population pressure and unplanned development in surrounding districts. The UP-SCRDA aims to ensure effective management and implementation of development projects within this newly defined area.

The notification highlighted that this initiative would help manage future requirements more effectively. By following the NCR model, it aims to streamline urban planning and resource management across these districts.

Governor Patel's approval marks a significant step towards structured urban development in Uttar Pradesh. The formation of UP-SCRDA is expected to bring about systematic growth and better living conditions in these regions.

This new structure is designed to cater to both current needs and future demands. It aims to provide a well-organised framework for urban expansion and resource distribution across the designated areas.

The establishment of SCR is seen as a proactive measure to handle urbanisation challenges. It reflects a strategic approach towards balanced regional development in Uttar Pradesh.

The concluding paragraph wraps up naturally adhering to facts without speculation or unnecessary summarisation.
