Uttar Pradesh: 5 Dead, 10 Injured As Bus Catches Fire After Touching High-Voltage Wire In Ghaziabad

According to the reports, five people lost their lives and around 10 got seriously injured on Monday after a bus was set on fire as it came in contact with a live wire. The saddening incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district. The reports said that around 30 people were traveling together to attend the wedding when joyous time turned into sorrow. However, most of the people managed to escape the unfortunate incident.

The visuals of the incident, show a massive fire blaze which was doused by several units of firefighters and the help of residents.

Reacting swiftly to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered to provide immediate help and compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased. CM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 will be given to people who got injured in the deadly accident.

In another incident, that happened last year, a moving air-conditioned (AC) double-decker private bus caught fire at Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. According to the reports, 60 passengers were traveling in the bus, which was destined from Noida to Bihar, but caught fire mid-way. Fortunately, all escaped from the bus safely on time as a passenger noticed smoke in the cabin and immediately informed the driver.

Later, the driver and passengers informed the police and fire service about the emergency, which was handled safely and timely.

Talking to the media, Rajneesh Verma, Assistant commissioner of police, Noida, said, "On Wednesday around 3.15 pm, a double-decker AC private bus was heading towards Siwan in Bihar via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway from Sector 37, when a short-circuit inside the cabin of the bus near Sector 96 made the bus catch fire."

"As soon as smoke started filling the cabin, the bus driver parked the bus on the side of the expressway and evacuated around 60 passengers safely," he added.
