US Singer Mary Millben Reiterates Support For PM Modi On Manipur Issue

American singer Mary Millben has once again expressed her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the ongoing 'Manipur issue'. In July, she had previously thanked him for publicly addressing the "inhuman behavior against women" in the conflict-ridden northeastern state. Millben has reiterated her endorsement, stating, "Modi will consistently champion your freedom," emphasizing India's faith in its leader.

On the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), where she had also touched upon Modi's feet during his state visit to the United States in June, Millben conveyed, "Truth prevails: India maintains its trust in its leader. The women, daughters, and mothers of #Manipur can expect justice. #PMModi will eternally fight for your liberty."

In her remarks, the American singer subtly criticized the Opposition in India, particularly making reference to the Congress party. She asserted, "The truth is: aligning with a party that disregards cultural heritage, denies children the right to sing their national anthem, and tarnishes the nation's image internationally, does not signify leadership. It signifies a lack of principles."

Millben further stressed, "Dishonest journalism might portray false narratives. Opposition voices may loudly chant devoid of substance. However, the truth - the eternal truth - will always emancipate people." Echoing the words of Martin Luther King Jr., an advocate of the American civil rights movement and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, she added, "My cherished India, let truth resonate."

She stood by Modi during the 'no-confidence motion' against his government in India and declared, "You have my trust. I'm sending my prayers your way. #LokSabha."

A prior message from Millben to Modi:

In the earlier instance, during July, a video from two months ago depicting two women being publicly humiliated in the strife-ridden Manipur state of India had gone viral on social media, shocking the nation. At the onset of the Monsoon Session, Prime Minister Modi addressed the incident by stating, "The occurrence has brought shame upon 1.4 billion Indians, and the guilty will not escape punishment."

Millben expressed gratitude to the prime minister for "publicly addressing the inhumane treatment of women in Manipur." Recognizing these women as "children of God," she conveyed her sorrow for the assaulted women in Manipur.

In the context of Modi's momentous state visit to the United States in June, Mary Millben, following her rendition of Jana Gana Mana - the national anthem of India - knelt and touched his feet. The video of this act garnered widespread attention. As touching feet is a cultural gesture to seek blessings in India, Millben's enactment of this practice on the global stage as an American artist drew accolades for Prime Minister Modi.

Defeat of the no-confidence motion against the Modi government:

The no-confidence motion against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government was thwarted in the Lok Sabha after a three-day-long debate, culminating in a vigorous speech by the prime minister in the House.

The motion was vanquished through a voice vote orchestrated by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Following this, Opposition MPs, including Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, exited the chamber.

In his response to the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed, "The citizens of our nation have repeatedly placed their faith in our government, and I extend my gratitude to all of them."
