UP: Protest over damage to place of worship

Muzaffarnagar, Jan 7: Some unidentified persons allegedly damaged a place of worship in Bhokaheri town near here leading to a protest by members of a particular community and scaling up of security in the area.

The doors and walls of the religious place were found damaged.

The offenders also wrote some "derogatory" messages on the wall, police quoted some persons as saying. A case has been registered against unidentified persons for causing damage to the religious place, said Sub-Divisional Magistrate Umesh Mishra.

Security has been tightened and extra police force deployed in the area, said the SDM.
