UP Police warns of stern action against insensitive policemen

, Jan 2: A day after taking over the charge,

Director General of Police (DGP) Rizwan Ahmed today warned of stern

against "insensitive" policemen.

"If any incident of insensitive behaviour by policemen is detected in future, it will not be ignored and stern action will be taken against the concerned personnel and supervising officer," the DGP said in his first circular after appointment.

The DGP also said that action like detaining family members of a criminal in a bid to create pressure to arrest him "should not be taken". Ahmed said that the behaviour of police towards common people should be sensitive and hard towards anti-social, goons and professional criminals.

"In case of law and order, the behaviour should be decent and within the purview of law," the DGP said.
