In recent incidents, men had used social media to give talaq to their wives but threatening to give talaq for not serving beef in bizarre.
Lakhimpurkheri, April 28: After the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to shut the illegal slaughter houses in the state, many had lost hopes on having beef meat, but in rare cases people demand others to serve beef or face consequences.
In one such a bizarre incident, a woman's family was threatened to give divorce to the newly wed woman for serving beef during the wedding ceremony. The incident took place in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, a woman identified as Afsana was married on April 22. A few days after the wedding, her father, Salari went to daughter's marital home to complete the final set of rituals where the groom's family allegedly threatened to give talaq to Afsana for not serving beef and lack of family's hospitality for guests. They also alleged that they were not given dowry.
Salari said that he paid dowry and did not fail in showing hospitality during the wedding but he did not mention about beef not being served.
However, he approached the panchayats regarding the issue. On the other hand, Afsana too went to many police stations to seek justice.
After all the efforts the duo now resorts to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for justice.
Naseem, brother of Afsana said that the family hopes rest on newly appointed CM Yogi. He added that Yogi is the only one who can help the family. He said that whatever had happened with his family was wrong and he opposes that.
