UP Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh Faces Outrage from Congress Over Remarks Against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh faced criticism from the Congress after making remarks about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's decision to contest from Wayanad. A Congress leader defaced Singh's nameplate and wrote "chor" on his official bungalow's gate. Singh, previously with Congress, lost to Rahul Gandhi in Raebareli as a BJP candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Congress Protests UP Ministers Remarks on Priyanka

In a post on X, Singh commented, "Ultimately the girl could not fight and ran away to a place where she did not have to fight. She has become old." Although he didn't mention names, he used the hashtag WayanadLoksabhabyeelection, indicating his target was Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She had been announced as the Congress candidate for Wayanad, a seat vacated by her brother Rahul Gandhi.

Congress Responds to Minister's Remarks

Ajay Rai, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress unit, criticised Singh's language. He stated that women candidates often face derogatory remarks from individuals like Singh. Rai highlighted that such attitudes contribute to poor women's safety in the state. He expressed these views on X, pointing out Singh's loss in the parliamentary elections.

Later, Anil Yadav, a state general secretary for Congress, visited Singh's bungalow. Armed with black spray paint, Yadav defaced the minister's nameplate and wrote "chor" on the gate. Yadav told reporters that derogatory comments against party leaders would not be tolerated. No police complaint has been filed regarding this incident yet.

Minister Continues Criticism of Gandhi Family

Singh continued his criticism of the Gandhi family, claiming they rely on other parties' support to win elections. He argued that no member of the Gandhi family has successfully started their political career from their home region. According to Singh, they have spent generations in Delhi but never established a political base there.

Singh accused them of being "escapist people," moving from Italy to India and shifting constituencies from Rae Bareli and Amethi to Wayanad. He described them as parasitic and suggested that without other parties' votes, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi would lose elections. Singh reiterated these views on X.

The ongoing political tension highlights deep-seated rivalries between BJP and Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh. The exchange underscores broader issues concerning women's representation and safety in politics. As events unfold, both parties remain steadfast in their positions.
