UP: Dreaded gangster Anil Dujana killed in an encounter
Dreaded gangster Anil Dujana has been killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.
He was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force on Thursday evening in Meerut. Following the encounter he was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Dujana was a resident of Dujana village under the Badalpur police station limits in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. His real name was Anil Nagar. He was feared in parts of Western Uttar Pradesh and ran an organised criminal gang.
The encounter took place on an unpaved road, which was surrounded by tall bushes. The police said that he and his gang had been hiding there and opened fire at the police during approach. The police team immediately returned fire.
The police said that Dujana had planned on killing a key witness in a murder case in which he was an accused. He had started threatening the key witness in the case, the police also said.
The UP STF then moved to arrest him. During the operation, Dujana and his gang engaged the police leading to the gunfight and his subsequent death.
The encounter comes in the wake of the ongoing crackdown by the Uttar Pradesh police against the criminal syndicate.
In November 2022, Dujana had been sentenced to three years in jail and also fined Rs 20,000. A person had filed a murder case against a few people including Dujana in 2011. He had been absconding despite being served several summonses.
A CJM had sentenced him to three years imprisonment.

A notorious criminal, Dujana was nabbed by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police in 2021. He had 62 cases registered against him, including 18 murders. The other cases included looting, extortion, land grabbing and others.
Dujana had a bounty of Rs 25,000 which was announced by the Bulandshahr police. The Noida police on the other hand had announced a bounty of Rs 50,000 on him. He had been in jail, but was granted bail in 2021. Later on a court issued a non-bailable warrant against him for non-appearance in old cases.
In February this year, the witness in the murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party leader was shot dead by Asad Ahmed, the son of dreaded gangster Atiq Ahmed. Asad was killed in an encounter last month, while his father and uncle were shot dead on camera near a hospital while they were speaking to reporters in Prayagraj, UP.
Since March 2017, when Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister of UP, 183 gangsters have been died in encounters, the UP police had said last month.
