UP cops solve mystery of naked woman ringing doorbells in the dead of the night

The police have advised the public not to share videos of the woman on the social media as it would jeopardise her dignity

New Delhi, Feb 06: A video from Uttar Pradesh went viral in which a naked woman can be seen ringing the doorbells of home in the middle of the night.

The video shows the naked woman ringing the doorbells of the houses and then disappearing.

The incident took place late at night on January 29 in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident came to light after a local complained about the same.

The Rampur police took to Twitter and informed that they had taken cognisance of the matter and a team has been formed to investigate the incident.

A police official had on February 3 urged in a tweet to clothe the woman first and then report the same to the local police. The police said that they were examining the video to ascertain the identity of the woman and then initiate action.

Later on the police managed to identify the woman. On February 4, the Rampur police issued a statement in which it said that the woman is mentally unstable and has been undergoing treatment for the past five years.

    "The mystery around the woman roaming naked in Malik town has been solved. The father and mother of the woman who have seen the video have told us that she is their daughter. They also told us that her mental condition is not stable and she has been undergoing medical treatment in Bareilly district for the past five years," the Rampur police said in a statement in Hindi.

    Further the police said that they had advised the family to keep a watch on her. Further the Rampur police advised the public not to share misleading information on the social media that could create fear or confusion. It would jeopardise the woman's dignity, the police also said.
