Acharya Kishore Kunal, a respected former Indian Police Service officer and spiritual leader, has passed away at 74. He suffered a cardiac arrest in Patna early on a Sunday morning. His passing occurred at Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital, which he helped establish. Kunal had been admitted due to breathing issues at 2 am that day.

Kunal's career was notable not just in policing but also in religious and social sectors within Bihar. After retiring from the IPS, he devoted himself to spiritual and social causes, making significant strides in education and healthcare. He was instrumental in reconstructing the Mahavir Mandir in Patna and founding charitable hospitals like Mahavir Arogya Sansthan and Mahavir Cancer Sansthan.

Legacy of Social Contributions

His efforts extended to founding Gyan Niketan, a prominent school in Patna, and playing a key role in establishing the Ayodhya Temple Trust. Kunal's dedication to public service is evident through his initiatives aimed at improving education, healthcare, and fostering religious harmony across Bihar.

Throughout his life, Kunal was actively involved in religious reconciliation and social welfare projects. He served as a mediator during the Ayodhya dispute and initiated the construction of the world's largest Virat Ramayana temple in Bihar. Under his leadership, the Mahavir Mandir Trust provided meals to thousands of devotees through food distribution programs in Ayodhya and Sitamarhi.

Tributes from Prominent Figures

The last rites for Kunal were held at Kaunhara Ghat in Hajipur. The procession began from his home and passed through Mahavir Mandir as a tribute to his devotion. Many prominent figures expressed their condolences, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Chief Ministers Nitish Kumar and Yogi Adityanath.

Kunal's legacy includes founding India's first cancer hospital for children, the Mahavir Bal Cancer Hospital. His contributions have left an indelible mark on Bihar's society.
