UP Becoming Global Hub For IT, Semiconductors, EV Manufacturing: Yogi Adityanath

At the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the state's industrial growth and initiatives supporting local artisans. The event showcased over 550 international buyers and highlighted investment opportunities and technological advancements in Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently paid homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary during the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS 2025). He highlighted Upadhyaya's vision of Antyodaya, aiming to uplift the most marginalized. The event, which attracted over 550 buyers from 80 countries and 2,250 exhibitors from 75 districts, showcased Uttar Pradesh's industrial growth and cultural heritage.

During the inauguration, CM Yogi welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Uttar Pradesh following the implementation of next-generation GST reforms. He described it as a "wonderful Diwali gift" for various sections of society, including farmers and small industries. The CM emphasized that these reforms would help Uttar Pradesh tackle global economic challenges.

Boosting Local Industries

The Chief Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh is leading in sectors like apparel, textiles, leather, handicrafts, and carpets. He mentioned that the GST reforms have reduced tax slabs from four to two since July 2017, strengthening the economy. This change has revitalized markets within just four days, benefiting everyone from labourers to traders.

CM Yogi also praised PM Modi's decade-old vision of transforming youth into job creators through initiatives like PM Startup and Standup Yojana. He highlighted the CM Yuva Udyami Scheme launched in January 2025, which has already benefited over 90,000 youths in less than a year.

Empowering Artisans and Craftsmen

The Vishwakarma Yojana was cited by CM Yogi as a landmark initiative supporting artisans and craftsmen at the grassroots level. This complements UP's One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme. The Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana has already trained over four lakh artisans and craftsmen, promoting the 'Vocal for Local' mantra.

Uttar Pradesh is emerging as India's leading GI capital with 77 GI products. Applications for GI tags for an additional 75 products are underway this year. More than 60 GI-tagged stalls were featured at UPITS to showcase the state's rich heritage.

Investment Opportunities in Uttar Pradesh

The UP Global Investors Summit in February 2023 saw proposals worth Rs 40 lakh crore for the state. Projects worth over Rs 12 lakh crore have been grounded with production beginning in some enterprises. A groundbreaking ceremony worth Rs 5 lakh crore is planned for November.

CM Yogi announced plans to develop industrial and employment zones across every district on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. These zones will support youth with skill development and enterprise creation through comprehensive services related to self-employment and MSME.

Technological Advancements

Uttar Pradesh is becoming a hub for IT, semiconductors, and electronics manufacturing. It contributes significantly to India's mobile phone output and component production. Recognizing its importance, IT has been given industry status in the state.

The CM highlighted improved connectivity through road, air, rail, and water networks along with better law enforcement as factors making UP attractive for investors. He reiterated PM Modi's call to reduce foreign dependence by utilizing indigenous resources effectively.

The trade show serves as a vital platform towards achieving a self-reliant India under PM Modi's leadership. CM Yogi expressed confidence that UP will shed its BIMARU image to become Viksit Bharat's growth engine.
