Two Deaths Reported in Nashik

In Nashik district, two individuals have lost their lives due to rain-related incidents. The affected farmers in the region will receive compensation for their crop losses, as confirmed by Chief Minister Shinde. The government has also been directed to provide adequate compensation to farmers based on the panchnama survey.

Preliminary Assessment Indicates Extensive Damage

According to preliminary estimates, around 99,381 hectares of agricultural land have been impacted by the unseasonal showers. Crops ranging from grapes to vegetables have suffered damage across 16 districts in the state. Nashik, a major hub for onion and grape cultivation, has incurred the most significant losses, with over 32,833 hectares of crops affected.

Government Support for Affected Farmers

The state government has taken prompt action to address the situation. The rehabilitation and disaster management minister, Anil Patil, has instructed officials to expedite the panchnama process in Nashik district and submit a final report within a week. This will facilitate the speedy provision of compensation to affected farmers.

Crop Damage Assessment and Compensation

The government has emphasized the importance of ensuring that no farmer is left out during the crop damage assessment survey. After receiving the final report, detailed discussions will be held with the Chief Minister and Deputy CMs to determine appropriate measures for farmer welfare.

Assistance for Farmers in Nashik District

In Nashik district, around 70,000 farmers have suffered losses due to the unseasonal rains. The district administration has reported that 11,652 hectares of grapes, 10,673 hectares of onion, and other crops have been damaged. Financial aid of Rs 4 lakh each will be provided to the families of the two individuals who lost their lives in rain-related incidents.

Appeal for Expedited Assessment in Bhiwandi

Union Minister Kapil Patil has urged Chief Minister Shinde to expedite the assessment of crop damage caused by rain and hailstorms in his Lok Sabha constituency, Bhiwandi, in Thane district. The affected farmers in Bhiwandi, Shahapur, Murbad, and Wada talukas have experienced substantial losses, including damage to paddy crops and disruption of the paddy thrashing process. The Union Minister has called for financial relief to support the affected farmers.
