Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary Receives Death Threat; Caller Claims Access To Tour Details

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary received a death threat on Friday from an unidentified caller, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.

According to reports, the threat was conveyed through both a phone call and WhatsApp messages to his personal assistant, Vishvendra Shah. A formal complaint has been filed, and an investigation is currently underway.

Caller Claims Access to Minister's Tour Details

The caller, who identified himself as "Ismail" from Murshidabad in West Bengal, allegedly claimed to have access to the minister's official tour plan. This has raised serious concerns about a possible security breach.

The Delhi Police has registered the case and initiated an inquiry, while West Bengal Police is also involved in tracking the origin of the threat and verifying the caller's identity.

Who Is Jayant Chaudhary?

Jayant Chaudhary is a well-known political leader and currently serves as a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the central government. He is also the National President of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), a party with a strong presence in western Uttar Pradesh.

He comes from a prominent political family. His grandfather, Chaudhary Charan Singh, was a former Prime Minister of India, and his father, Chaudhary Ajit Singh, was a senior Union Minister.

Focus on Farmers and Rural Development

In recent days, Chaudhary has been actively speaking about strengthening the farming sector. Addressing a public gathering in Uttar Pradesh, he emphasised the need for farmers to work in an organised way.

He encouraged farmers to make use of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to access better markets and improve their income. He also highlighted the role of schemes like the Kisan Credit Card, which provides easier access to loans.

Chaudhary said that farmers are natural risk-takers and added that if younger farmers combine agriculture with business and management skills, it could bring significant improvements to rural economies.

Referring to past leadership in his family, Chaudhary said that the current government is continuing efforts to support farmers in line with earlier visions.

He stressed that farmers are not weak but form an essential part of India's cultural and economic strength. According to him, awareness and collective action among farmers can help them benefit more from government schemes.
