Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates Sharda Corridor Project's First Phase in Tanakpur

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first phase of the Sharda Corridor Project in Tanakpur, aimed at enhancing cultural heritage and economic opportunities. The project includes redevelopment of Sharda Ghat with environmentally friendly facilities.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the initial phase of the Sharda Corridor Project in Tanakpur, Champawat. This project, costing Rs 185.20 crore, aims to blend faith, cultural heritage, and sustainable development. Dhami emphasised that the corridor will transform the region into a hub of religion, nature, and employment opportunities.

The Sharda Corridor Project is envisioned as a catalyst for economic growth and prosperity in the area. It is not just a religious site but also a means to enhance local livelihoods. The first phase focuses on redeveloping Sharda Ghat to make it environmentally friendly and visually appealing.

Sharda Ghat Redevelopment

The redevelopment of Sharda Ghat includes creating safe bathing areas, aarti sites, and sanitation facilities. Additionally, it will feature easy access roads, pedestrian paths, proper lighting, and beautification efforts. These improvements aim to attract more visitors and boost religious tourism.

Modern technology will be employed in constructing the aarti site, incorporating rainwater harvesting and floor cooling systems. Flood-resistant structures will also be built to manage river flow and ensure safety in nearby areas.

Boosting Religious Tourism

The project is expected to invigorate religious tourism, stimulate the local economy, and generate employment. Dhami described it as a unique model from social, cultural, and environmental perspectives. It symbolises development for the entire region.

Purnagiri and Mata Rankochi are set to become key religious and cultural centres within the Sharda Corridor. These areas will offer experiences of devotion alongside education on forests, wildlife, and nature.

Environmental Sensitivity

This initiative prioritises environmentally sensitive development by maintaining river purity, greenery, and natural balance. The Uttarakhand government is committed to ensuring public participation and transparency in every decision related to the corridor's development.

Dhami stated that the Sharda Corridor represents more than geographical development; it signifies a revival of faith and spirit. It serves as an example where tradition meets progress, blending faith with modernity.

Future Developments

On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami announced plans to establish an agricultural university in Champawat. This move aligns with the broader vision of enhancing educational opportunities alongside cultural and economic growth in the region.

The Sharda Corridor Project stands as a testament to Uttarakhand's commitment to integrating cultural heritage with modern development while fostering community involvement at every stage.
