Thirteen British Healthcare Companies Join 10th UK-India Healthcare Trade Mission in 2024

A group of 13 British healthcare firms is attending the 10th UK-India Healthcare Trade Mission 2024. These companies, specialising in medical technology, clinical services, digital health, and AI, are engaging with key industry figures in Mumbai, Bangalore, and New Delhi from November 26 to 28. The mission's goal is to enhance healthcare in both the UK and India and set a standard for global healthcare collaboration.

UK-India Healthcare Trade Mission 2024 Overview

Anna Shotbolt, Deputy Trade Commissioner for South Asia, highlighted the potential of digital healthcare for both nations. She noted successful initiatives like Spirit Health's patient monitoring system, which benefits rural Indian areas, and MedTech's surgical lighting systems by Brandon. "Digital health care really presents a promising opportunity for both the countries," she stated.

Focus on Healthcare Innovation

Sir Stephen Powis, NHS National Medical Director, emphasised the significance of this mission. He said it showcases the UK's expertise in healthcare innovation across digital, med-tech, and education sectors. "The 10th edition of the UK Healthcare Trade Mission to India and to bring with us a delegation of UK healthcare organisations, all of whom have been selected to represent the UK's world-class capabilities in healthcare innovation across the next generation of digital, med-tech, and education and training," he remarked.

Both countries face similar challenges like increasing demand. Future success depends on leveraging digital data and innovation to benefit patients and healthcare staff. "Both India and the UK face the same challenges of rising demand, and the future success is going to lie in harnessing everything in terms of digital data, improvement sites and innovation," Powis added.

Partnerships for Progress

The UK companies aim to partner with top Indian hospitals, healthcare providers, and tech firms to spread innovation. This collaboration seeks to improve patient care in India. "So the UK companies that we have brought today bring a range of expertise in all these areas. They are looking for partnerships with leading Indian hospitals and healthcare providers and with tech companies to spread innovation to benefit patients in India," Powis explained.

The delegation includes Abingdon Health, ANGLE, Cirdan, Exroid Technology, Global Access Diagnostics (GADx), Modality Partnership, Novocuris, Panakeia Technologies, Royal Free London Private Patients Unit, University Hospital Southampton, University of Derby, Upskill Health, and VRiMS Virtual Reality in Medicine and Surgery.

This mission underscores the commitment to improving healthcare systems through international cooperation. By sharing expertise and fostering partnerships, both nations aim to address common challenges effectively.
