UGC Set For Major Changes In CUET-UG, PG, Says Chairman Jagadesh Kumar
The University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar on Monday told media that UGC is all set for major changes for CUET-UG and PG exams starting in 2025. These modifications will follow a review by an expert panel. The UGC had set up this committee to assess the conduct of these exams.
Based on feedback from previous years, the UGC aims to enhance the examination process for CUET. The goal is to create a more efficient and supportive environment for students. "The committee has examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment and operational logistics. The commission considered these recommendations in a recent meeting," Kumar mentioned.

Proposed Changes and Feedback
The commission plans to release a draft proposal soon. This document will outline revised guidelines for conducting CUET-UG and CUET-PG in 2025. They will seek feedback from students, parents, teachers, and institutions. This collaborative approach aims to refine the examination process further.
The first edition of CUET-UG in 2022 faced technical issues. Tests for some subjects were conducted over multiple shifts, necessitating score normalisation during result announcements. In 2024, the exam was held in hybrid mode but was cancelled across Delhi due to logistical challenges just before it was scheduled.
Expert Committee's Role
The expert committee's role is crucial in shaping these changes. They have reviewed various elements like test structure and syllabus alignment. Their insights are vital for ensuring that future exams meet educational standards while being student-friendly.
The UGC's initiative reflects its commitment to continuous improvement in higher education assessments. By addressing past challenges and incorporating diverse feedback, they aim to make CUET more robust and reliable for all stakeholders involved.
