UGC-NET Paper Leak Case: CBI Team Attacked In Bihar's Nawada

UGC-NET Paper Leak Case: According to the reports, a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which was heading to Bihar to conduct probe and grill some accused, was attacked in Nawada on Sunday.

Reportedly, people of the Kasiyadih village attacked the CBI officials and vandalised the vehicles.

Later, when help from local police reached the spot, four people were arrested in connection with the incident.

CBI Team Attacked In Bihar

The 4 member CBI team comprised a woman official and an inspector rank officer.

The CBI inquiry was ordered on June 20 by the Education Ministry after huge pressure was mounted by protesting students in the UGC-NET paper leak matter.

A day ago, the CBI registered the case putting charges of irregularities in the NEET-UG exam and launched the probe to nab people behind the paper leak scandal.

The Ministry of Education on June 19 cancelled the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday (June 18) in two shifts across different cities of the country.

Earlier last week, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accepted that the question paper was shared on the darknet and this was the reason behind the cancellation of UGC-NET. The NET examination was cancelled a day after it was conducted at more than 300 centers across India.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, the Minister said, "Soon after it was clear that the UGC-NET question paper on darknet matches the original question paper of UGC-NET, we decided to cancel the examination".

The government also sacked the National Testing Agecy's Director General (NTA DG) Subodh Kumar Singh and appointed Pradeep Singh Kharola with immediate affects. Pradeep Singh is retired Karnataka Cadre IAS officer, who will now take care of the smooth functioning of the examination conducting body.

On the other side, opposition parties have been attacking the government and are continuously demanding resignation of top officials including the minister.
