Twitter reacts as Jimmy Kimmel calls ‘RRR’ a Bollywood film at the Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel was the host at the 95th Academy Awards this year. The S S Rajamouli directed RRR won the award for the best score for the song Naatu Naatu.

Indians on the internet have taken offence to Jimmy Kimmel calling RRR a Bollywood movie.

Kimmel hosted the 95th Academy Awards this year. As he announced the first award category, he was seen being driven away by the dancer who performed on the Oscar winning song, 'Naatu Naatu.'

Jimmy said, ' this year we are not gonna play you off stage instead we have a group of performers from the movie RRR who are going to dance you offstage.' He later called the S S Rajamouli film, RRR a 'Bollywood movie.'

The video was shared by a fan account on Twitter. Reacting to Jimmy Kimmel's comment, one user wrote, ' not even 15 minutes in and Jimmy Kimmel called RRR a Bollywood ugh.'

Another user said, 'Jimmy Kimmel saying RRR is a Bollywood film is my last straw cause how is someone so lousy God, I cannot take this.'
'I don't need to need Jimmy Kimmel incorrectly call RRR a Bollywood move,' read another tweet.

'Why are they stating as a Bollywood Film when #RRR is actually a Tollywood film? There is a lack of representation in the Western world, unfortunately. Shame on #TheAcademy!' read another tweet.

"Hollywood just called RRR a Bollywood movie lol," said one person, while another added, 'RRR isn't Bollywood.'

RRR, directed by S S Rajamouli stars, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan Teja, Alia Bhat, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran among others. The movie is a fictional take on the lives of Indian freedom fighters Allluri Seetharaman Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film has made over 1,200 crore worldwide and continues to run to full houses in Japan.

Rahul Sipalganj and Kaala Bhairava received a standing ovation at the Oscars after they performed the song, 'Naatu Naatu.' Lauren Gottlieb was seen grooving to the track. The song was introduced by Deepika Padukone and she called it a 'banger.' The audience was so enthralled by the Oscar winning song, that they got off their seats to give the performers a standing ovation.

The score is composed by M M Keeravani, while the lyrics are written by Chandra Bose.

    Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Rahul Sipalgang, Chandra Bose, M M Keeravani and Kaala Bhairava were among those associated with RRR were present at the Oscars.
