Exit poll results Highlights: BJP to win big in Tripura, Nagaland; close race in Meghalaya

The exit poll results for three Northeastern states - Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland - was declared on Monday, February 27. All the three states consist of 60 assembly seats each. The results of the elections will be declared on March 2.

The Jan Ki Baat polls predicted a slighly better performance for the BJP in Tripura, contending that it would secure 29 to 40 seats while the Left got 9 t0 16 seats.

The Jan Ki Baat poll predicted a significantly better performance for the Mamata Banerjee-led party, predicting that it would obtain nine to 14 seats in Meghalaya. It forecast that the NPP would secure 11 to 16 seats while the BJP bagged three to seven seats.

Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mawrie on Monday cast his vote, exuding confidence that the people will send him to the Assembly again from West Shillong constituency.“I have the belief that with the love and support of the people, I will win this constituency again,” Mr. Mawrie told ANI on Monday.Of the 60 Assembly constituencies in Meghalaya, 36 constituencies fall in Khasi, Jaintia Hills region while 24 are in Garo Hills region.
