Tragic Bus Fire In Jaisalmer Results In 19 Fatalities, Investigation Underway

A devastating incident occurred on Tuesday when a private bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur in Rajasthan caught fire, resulting in the death of 19 people, according to police reports. The bus, which was carrying 57 passengers, had departed from Jaisalmer around 3 pm. As it travelled along the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway, smoke began to emerge from the rear section of the vehicle.

Upon noticing the smoke, the driver promptly stopped the bus by the roadside. However, flames quickly engulfed the entire vehicle. Local residents and passers-by immediately rushed to assist with rescue efforts. Emergency services, including fire engines and police, were alerted, and injured passengers were transported to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer for medical attention.

Immediate Response and Investigation

The initial investigation suggests that a short circuit might have caused the fire, as stated by police officials. Following the incident, the Jaisalmer district administration swiftly initiated relief and rescue operations. District Collector Pratap Singh instructed officials to ensure that injured individuals received immediate medical care. Additionally, helpline numbers were made available for those seeking assistance.

Governor Haribhau Bagade and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed their condolences over this tragic event. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and BJP state president Madan Rathore also conveyed their sorrow. The Chief Minister assured that instructions have been given to provide proper medical treatment for those injured and extend all possible support to those affected.
