Track Laid at Modipuram, Final Station on Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced on Thursday that track installation at Modipuram, the last station on the Delhi-Meerut corridor, is complete. This station will feature three platforms: two for Namo Bharat trains and one designated for the future Meerut Metro.

Modipuram Track Completed for Namo Bharat Corridor

Located along National Highway-58, Modipuram station spans 215 metres in length and 34 metres in width, with a height of approximately 16 metres. A foot overbridge is being built to connect both sides of the highway, benefiting both Namo Bharat passengers and pedestrians crossing the road.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The station's infrastructure includes three platforms, eight staircases, and an equal number of escalators. Four escalators connect the concourse to the platforms, while others are placed at entry and exit points. Additionally, six lifts have been installed at the site to enhance accessibility.

Construction of the Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) roof is advancing swiftly. Civil work at Modipuram station is nearing completion, with final touches like roofing and structural fittings currently underway. The NCRTC highlighted these developments in their statement.

Shared Platform for Trains

Modipuram station will serve as a shared platform for both Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro trains. This marks the first instance in India where semi-high-speed and metro trains will operate on the same infrastructure. The NCRTC emphasised this unique aspect in their announcement.

Currently, Namo Bharat trains operate across 11 stations over a 55-kilometre stretch from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. The plan is to make the entire 82-kilometre corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram operational within this year.

Meerut Metro Services

The upcoming Meerut Metro services will run between Meerut South and Modipuram Depot, covering 13 stations over a 23-kilometre stretch. This development aims to enhance connectivity within the region, providing efficient transportation options for commuters.

The NCRTC's efforts in developing this corridor reflect a significant step towards improving regional transport infrastructure. By integrating different train services on shared platforms, they aim to offer seamless travel experiences for passengers across the network.
