TN CM Palanisamy will NOT meet Sasikala before floor test

As expected earlier, the Tamil Nadu chief minister will not be meeting the party’s jailed interim general secretary, for a special session has been called for on February 18

Newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy will not meet AIADMK's interim general secretary Sasikala Natarajan who is currently lodged at the Bengaluru central jail. It was expected that Palanisamy would meet her on Friday after he took over the office or chief minister on Thursday evening, but the same is unlikely until the floor test.

Speculations are rife that the chief minister meeting Sasikala who has been convicted in a disproportionate assets case by none other than the Supreme Court will provide ammunition to the DMK as well as the O Panneerselvam camp to attack him during the vote of confidence.

A special session of the Tamil Nadu assembly has been called for on Saturday where Palanisamy will prove majority to retain the post of the chief minister. Moreover, the AIADMK would like the chief minister to stay back in the state and not let MLAs at the resort be by themselves before the floor test.

A visit to Bengaluru has not been scheduled for the chief minister on Friday yet as against expectations. It is convention for the head of state not to meet a convict but for the AIADMK the reasons stretch beyond mere convention.
