Tirupati's TTD Takes Action: No More Fruits And Vegetables Sale On Temple Pathways

In a bid to ensure the safety of devotees and curb the movement of wild animals along the footpath routes leading to the Lord Venkateswara temple, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has implemented a ban on the sale of fruits and vegetables along these paths on Fridays.

As the official overseer of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, the TTD has enacted this measure to discourage devotees from purchasing fruits and vegetables to feed to deer and monkeys, both prey animals. These actions inadvertently attract wild beasts, creating potential risks.

"In light of these concerns, the sale of fruits and vegetables will be prohibited, as pilgrims often buy them to feed monkeys, deer, and other animals. This practice has led to the presence of wild beasts, posing a threat to trekkers," stated the temple authorities in a press release.

Concurrently, the TTD has issued directives to the more than 100 footpath vendors along the Alipiri route. They are required to maintain cleanliness within their premises and properly dispose of waste by separating it into dry and wet categories for appropriate disposal.

Furthermore, these vendors have been instructed to promptly alert both forest and TTD officials if they spot a wild animal. Additionally, the temple administration plans to enhance security by installing closed circuit (CC) cameras along the footpath routes.
