Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha Assures Tight Security for Amarnath Yatra, Invites Pilgrims to Attend

Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has assured that comprehensive security measures are in place for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. He encouraged devotees to visit the sacred cave shrine in large numbers. Sinha performed the Pratham Puja at the shrine, marking the ceremonial start of this year's pilgrimage. The yatra is set to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

J-K LG Invites Pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra

Sinha, who became the first chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board to reach the Holy cave via the Baltal track recently, expressed confidence in the arrangements. "Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, CRPF, and other CAPFs have made foolproof security arrangements. So, I think there is no need for anyone to think about anything; they should come and take Baba's blessings," he stated.

Security and Facilities for Pilgrims

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted improvements in facilities for pilgrims this year. He noted that all stakeholders are working with dedication to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. "Invaluable contributions of people of J&K, Civil Society and all service providers have always been truly exceptional," Sinha remarked. He expressed confidence that enhanced services will make this year's pilgrimage spiritually fulfilling.

Sinha also inspected ongoing preparations at the Baltal axis of the pilgrimage route. He instructed officials to complete projects on time to improve facilities for pilgrims. The maintenance, upgrade, and widening of the yatra track were reviewed by Sinha, who took a firsthand look at measures implemented by the shrine board and BRO.

Infrastructure Enhancements

After the 2024 yatra ends, special attention will be given to developing safer tracks on both routes. The alternate route from Chandanwari to Pissutop will feature a safety handrail and surfacing for on-foot pilgrims. Safety handrails have been installed on vulnerable stretches of the Pahalgam route. Retaining walls and wire mesh are being used to mitigate risks from shooting stones on both paths.

ILCB Interlocking Concrete Block tiles have been laid on slippery sections to enhance safety. The LG also reviewed medical and healthcare arrangements at Baltal Base Camp Hospital. Sinha interacted with officials, directing them to ensure sufficient doctors, paramedical staff, medical equipment, medicines, oxygen cylinders, and continuous healthcare services for pilgrims' well-being.

Medical Preparedness

The 38-day yatra will begin on July 3 from both Baltal and Pahalgam in Anantnag district. Sinha's post on X read: "Har Har Mahadev! Paid my obeisance to Baba Barfani and performed the Pratham Puja at the Holy Cave, marking the ceremonial beginning of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. May Baba Amarnathji keep showering his divine blessings on all of us."

Sinha emphasised collaboration among stakeholders with clear objectives for a memorable pilgrimage experience. He believes that significant improvements in facilities will ensure a spiritually enriching journey for all devotees this year.
