Three Schools In Ahmedabad Receive Bomb Threat Emails, Security Checks Underway
Three schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threat emails on Wednesday, prompting authorities to place security agencies on high alert. Police teams were immediately deployed to the affected schools and safety protocols were activated. Confirming the development, Sharad Singhal, Joint Police Commissioner of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, said precautionary measures were put in place as soon as the emails were received and thorough security checks are currently underway.
The incident in Ahmedabad comes a day after a similar situation unfolded in Jalandhar, Punjab, where 11 private schools received bomb threat emails on Monday morning. As a precaution, school authorities evacuated the buildings and informed the police. Initially, only three schools reported receiving such emails, but the number rose to 11 within a few hours as more institutions came forward with similar complaints.

In Jalandhar, school administrations quickly contacted parents and asked them to take their children home. Although the messages sent to parents did not explicitly mention bomb threats, panic spread rapidly after information about the emails circulated on social media. A large number of parents gathered outside school premises as police and civil administration officials worked to secure the campuses.
Senior officers reached the affected schools and implemented standard operating procedures to ensure student safety. Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said all precautionary measures were activated, with additional personnel from the Punjab Armed Police and Jalandhar Rural Police deployed to assist local teams. An FIR has been registered at the cyber cell against unidentified individuals for sending threatening emails and creating public fear.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said preliminary investigations indicated that the bomb threats appeared to be frivolous in nature. He noted that similar emails had been sent to schools in Amritsar on December 12, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes after verification.
The recent incidents also recall earlier bomb threat emails sent to the Gujarat High Court. Months ago, the court received a threat that was later found to be fake. At the time, police, bomb disposal squads and dog units conducted extensive searches of the premises without disrupting court proceedings, and no suspicious objects were found.
Since June, the Gujarat High Court has received three bomb threat emails. All of them were thoroughly investigated and subsequently declared hoaxes. Authorities have reiterated that while such threats often turn out to be false, they are treated with utmost seriousness to ensure public safety and prevent any potential risk.
