The Indian government on Saturday announced the names of seven Members of Parliament who will visit key partner countries, including members of the UN Security Council, later this month to explain India's stand on terrorism from Pakistan and its recent Operation Sindoor.

The names of multi-party parliamentary delegations include:

A statement from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs read: "The All-Party Delegations will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the country's strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism. Members of Parliament from different parties, prominent political personalities, and distinguished diplomats will be part of each delegation."

In a post on X, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences."

Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India, under Operation Sindoor, carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early on May 7. Over 100 terrorists were killed in the operation that lasted about 25 minutes.

Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir and attempted drone attacks along the border regions. However, India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across airbases in Pakistan.

Congress Reacts

Meanwhile, Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications, has indicated that the Centre has not picked the names of MPs which were suggested by his party. In a post, he wrote, "Yesterday morning, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju spoke with the Congress President and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The INC was asked to submit names of 4 MPs for the delegations to be sent abroad to explain India's stance on terrorism from Pakistan. By noon yesterday May 16th, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha wrote to the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs giving the following names on behalf of the INC."

According to him, it has recommended the names of Anand Sharma, former Union Cabinet Minister, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, and Raja Brar.
