Shashi Tharoor Requests Special Train Services for Keralites Returning Home During Holidays

Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP, has called on Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to organise special trains for Keralites. These trains would run from cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram. The aim is to help those working and living outside Kerala return home for the holidays.

Tharoor Calls for Special Trains for Keralites

Tharoor highlighted in his letter that the festive season sees a sharp rise in travel as people head home to celebrate with family. He emphasised the need for additional train services from major cities to Thiruvananthapuram during Christmas and New Year. Regular train services often cannot meet this increased demand.

Special Train Services for Festive Season

The MP pointed out that many travellers, including students and professionals, struggle to get tickets due to overbooked trains. This surge in demand causes inconvenience for passengers. Tharoor urged the Ministry of Railways to arrange special trains between these cities and Thiruvananthapuram during this busy period.

He believes these extra services will ease passenger traffic and ensure safe, comfortable travel for everyone. "Your prompt consideration of this request will greatly benefit numerous citizens and make their festive season more joyous," Tharoor stated.

Tharoor's appeal aims to address the issue of excessive demand on regular train services. By providing relief through special trains, it would help many travellers reach home without hassle. This initiative could significantly improve the travel experience during the holiday season.
