Hours after the Union Budget 2018-19 was tabled in Parliament, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that farmer had still not got a fair price and there were no jobs for youth.
Taking a dig at the Modi government, Gandhi tweeted, "4 years gone, still promising farmers fair price. 4 years gone, fancy schemes with no matching budgets. 4 years gone, no jobs for our youth. Thankfully, only 1 more year to go."
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha was adjourned following the presentation of the Union Budget 2018. There was a lot of heart break for the middle class as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that there would be no change in the Income Tax slabs.
The budget was focused largely on the upliftment of the agriculture sector. There was also a major push to healthcare and education during the Budget speech.
The Union Budget 2018-19 was the last full budget before the general elections next year, when a vote on account would be presented. The next full budget will be presented by the new government.
